KU ARI HK Center for Northeast Asian Studies Research Professor Application

1. Outline:

Korea University has taken the leadership of establishing the very first university-oriented research institute focused in the studies of East Asia and Korea Research Foundation has chosen ARI as the year 2008 “Humanities Korea”. Our decade-long project is “Transnational Space of Northeast Asia: Intellectual and Socio-cultural Exchanges, Institutional Interactions, and Their Restructurings.” The ARI is looking for an HK research professor in the division of thoughts who is able and dedicated to research “the intellectual foundations of Northeast Asian Transnational Space.”

3. Benefits:

- Annual Salary: 30,000,000 - 33,000,000 won

Annual Payment of 2,000,000 – 3,000,000 won for a selected excellent HK research professor

Funding for research activities and international conference participation 

4. Requirements:

- A doctoral degree in the corresponding field

- No disqualification according to employment rule of private schools and Korea University.

- Qualified according to the employment requirement set by the Korea Research Foundation HK

- Field study experience or fluency in foreign languages preferred

 

5. Screening Schedule

- 1. Primary screening (document screening) – 2. Review (Interview) 3. The final announcement of successful applicants

- In reviewing applications, the fit between the ARI’s research agenda and candidates’ research interests will be importantly weighed.

- Successful candidates will be individually contacted by the ARI after primary screening.

- Academic Transcripts (Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Degrees)

- Three representative research achievements (out of the recent 5 years of researches / related to the research agenda of the ARI HK Center)

9. Decision on the primary screening will be individually notified by February 2010.

 

10. Notes 

- Insufficient applications may not be reviewed and submitted documents will not be returned

- Make sure that the contents of the application materials are accurate; if the content goes against the fact, ARI will deal with any disciplinary actions and other disadvantages even after the candidate is employed

- If no candidates are considered as qualified for the position by the committee members, the ARI may not recruit any research professor for the position.
